Jason Schaeffer concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, intellectual property, complex product liability, and professional liability. Mr. Schaeffer has experience litigating contract disputes, defending patent and trademark infringement cases, and in enforcing settlement agreements. He has also assisted entities, ranging from closely held corporations to Fortune 500 companies, in developing and protecting their intellectual property. Mr. Schaeffer’s litigation experience also includes the regular representation of attorneys defending against legal malpractice claims. Representative engagements include: Advising a pharmaceutical manufacturer on an international trademark policing strategy to protect its intellectual property in an widely known drug; Defending a Philadelphia bankruptcy law firm and counsel against a legal malpractice action; Representing a former owner and director of a corporation in enforcing the terms of a settlement agreement and in enforcing a judgment; Obtaining summary judgment in favor of a pension fund that was sued for securities fraud; and Representing a national sport association and member teams in licensing and trademark matters. In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Schaeffer is a former law clerk to the three judges of the Commerce Court Program (Philadelphia’s Business Court), and he is a contributing author to the American Bar Association’s Annual Corporate and Business Litigation Handbook. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey, and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. Mr. Schaeffer obtained his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1998, and he graduated cum laude from Temple University in 1995 with dual degrees in Philosophy and Political Science. During his time at Fordham, Mr. Schaeffer was an associate editor of the Fordham Intellectual Property Law Journal, a Director of the Housing Advocacy Project, and a mediator in Queens County, New York. |
