A native of Cobb County, Janie S. Maddox has lived and worked in Cobb all but one year of her life. She is a graduate of Sprayberry High School.
Ms. Maddox is a Senior Vice President of External Affairs Communications of Post Properties, Inc. and has a tenure of 28 years with Post in various positions. She is currently responsible for Post's external affairs including public relations, media, community affairs, political relations, and charity/non-profit activities. She is also responsible for directing internal company functions including the company newsletter, employee events and communications. She is a member of the Post Management Committee.
Ms. Maddox's community involvement includes being a member of the Wellstar Board of Trustees and Chair of the Wellstar H.R. Committee; Member of the Cobb Chamber Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Chair of Chairman's Club, 2005 Board of Directors and Executive Committee Member, 2003 Chair of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Top Producer for several years most recently in 2004 and; Past President of the Board and on the Executive Committee of the Wellstar Foundation; Chair of Wellstar's Jean and Mack Henderson Women's Center Fundraising Committee; Member of the Kennesaw University Foundation Board of Trustees, Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Anne Frank Exhibit Committee; Kennesaw University Business Advisory Committee for the Michael J. Coles School of Business; and Member of the Cobb Community Foundation. She is a graduate and Member of the Leadership Georgia Program, the Leadership Cobb Program, and the Regional Leadership Institute. She is also a member of the American Heart Association's Heart Ball Planning Committee. Her past accomplishments include 2003 Chair, Co-Vice Chair of Education and Co-Chair of the Community Arts group for the Cobb Chamber and a Mom® of the Give Our Schools A Hand program; Chairman of Leadership Cobb Selection Committee; Program Chair for Leadership Georgia 1988; and others.
Ms. Maddox was awarded the 1998 Cobb Chamber Chairman's Award. Ms. Maddox received the 1997 Mack Henderson® Community Service Award from the Cobb Chamber. She also received the American Heart Association's Lion Heart Award for 1996 and Volunteer of the Year Award from Promina Northwest Health Foundation for 1994-1995. She has received the Outstanding Cobb Chamber Director of the Year Award for 1989 and was nominated for the Cobb YMCA Woman of the Year in 1988.
