Jan is a Manager in Brown Smith Wallace's Risk Services practice. Jan leads the Firm's Data Analysis practice and is responsible for developing and providing services that enable clients and auditors to perform complex analyses using large volumes of data. These services help clients and auditors identify and evaluate data integrity and identify potential issues and trends impacting the organization. Jan's background blends traditional audit with data analysis consulting experience. Prior to Brown Smith Wallace, Jan was a Senior Auditor at Deloitte and an Internal Audit Team Leader at Anheuser-Busch. She then spent 7 years as a consultant with ACL Services, which produces the world's leading data analysis software. While with ACL, she worked extensively with Moss Adams to assist in the implementation of the ACL into their audits. Jan's experience with ACL Services included consulting with client audit leadership to implement strategies for evaluating internal controls, improving audit quality and efficiency, and performing numerous special projects, including duplicate payment reviews and system implementation conversion testing. Through her work with ACL, Jan has numerous accomplishments, including: Identifying $3.5 million dollars in duplicate payments to a third party insurance provider and providing detail for repayment. Detecting fraud in which engineering managers were booking costs to old projects while being paid bonuses for bringing current projects in under project. Identifying that over 85% of a high-tech company's inventory was obsolete. The company was unable to track obsolescence. Creating programs to streamline repetitve work and reduce travel time for an audit team by 2 weeks.Implementing data analysis into both existing and new audit procedures to improve the audit process. Jan is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. She graduated from Missouri State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a minor in International Management. |
