Prior to practicing law, Janet Lawler McDaniel worked in the commercial construction industry for 15 years. She worked for two different general contractors, in Colorado and in Florida, in the roles of project executive, project manager and project engineer. She has been responsible for completing more than $100 million in commercial construction projects, including schools, health care facilities, office buildings and historic renovations. She also operated her own construction management consulting practice. Janet's construction background gives her a unique combination of knowledge and experience to address complex factual and legal construction issues.
Janet's practice focuses on commercial litigation, with an emphasis in construction law. She was the chapter editor and a contributing author for the chapter on the contractor that was published in Colorado Construction Law (CLE of Colorado, Inc. 1999). She drafted a bill which was sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of Colorado in the 2000 legislative session permitting contractors to substitute a bond for claims on public works projects. She is the past chair of the Colorado Bar Association Construction Law Forum.
