Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Kelly began her career as an associate in the corporate and securities group with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York. In 1989, Kelly joined Sidley & Austin in Chicago, where she became partner in 1991. In 1995, she became senior vice president at Sara Lee Corporation. Later that year, her role expanded to senior vice president, secretary and general counsel. Kelly joined Kellogg Company in 1999 as executive vice president of corporate development, general counsel, and secretary, then accepted the position of executive vice president of corporate development and administration, general counsel and secretary in 2001. Kelly joined Kmart Corporation in 2003 as senior vice president, chief administrative officer and chief compliance officer. Prior to joining ConocoPhillips in August 2006 as deputy general counsel and corporate secretary, Kelly was partner at Zelle, Hoffman, Voelbel, Mason and Gette.
Kelly has served on the boards of the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, United Way of Battle Creek, Grinnell College, Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and Evanston Hospital. She also serves as a trustee for Columbia Funds. She is a member of the American Law Institute, and served on the Legal Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange from 1998-2001.
Kelly was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in history, with honors, from Grinnell College in 1979. She earned a juris doctorate from Yale Law School in 1983. |
