Jane Harrington is an associate in the Sacramento office. Ms. Harrington joined Lozano Smith after receiving her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law. Her practice areas include litigation, labor and employment, and charter schools. While in law school, Ms. Harrington gained federal litigation experience with the King Hall Civil Rights Clinic. She also worked in employment law, with Carlton, DiSante & Freudenberger, and as a volunteer with the Sacramento Employment Law Clinic.
In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Harrington has significant experience in education. She served as an adjunct faculty member in the California State University, Sacramento, College of Education, teaching in both the teacher credentialing program and in the Masters of Educational Technology program. She has worked with the Sacramento County of Education, the Beginning Teachers Support and Assessment (BTSA) program, the California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP), and the federal grant, Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to use Education (PT3). In her role, she was instrumental in fostering partnerships between University faculty, pre-service and in-service teachers, and district administrators.
Ms. Harrington also served as an education policy consultant for the California School Boards Association (CSBA). She assisted school districts with policy needs and facilitated policy development workshops statewide for administrators, board members, staff and parents. In 2003, Ms. Harrington received a Fulbright-Hayes scholarship for educators to visit Rwanda, meeting with students, educators and government officials throughout the country. Ms. Harrington received a Master of Arts degree in education from California State University, Sacramento, in 2002, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh, cum laude, in 1998. |
