Jane’s extensive leadership in state and local government makes her a valuable advocate for businesses and organizations that are affected by the actions of the Legislature and regulatory agencies. Jane is one of Maine’s most prominent political figures, thanks to her many years of experience as a local elected official, state legislator, and education leader. Prior to joining Pierce Atwood Consulting, Jane served as Republican leader in the Maine Senate and was her party’s nominee in the First Congressional District election in 2000. A former teacher, Jane is noted for her expertise on education issues. She is a former chair of the State Board of Education and has been appointed to serve on several special commissions on school funding. Education Jane is a Rumford native and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Cornell University. Civic Activities In addition to her legislative experience, Jane has been active in local government, chairing both the Cape Elizabeth school board and town council. She also is a past president of the Greater Portland Council of Governments. Jane is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries and a member of the Board of Visitors of the Muskie School of Public Service.
