Jan has been in the insurance industry since 1976. She spent 16 years developing her insurance skills in an independent insurance agency in Kansas City. During that time, Jan worked her way through practically every position in the agency, ultimately serving as General Manager and Corporate Treasurer for the last eight years. In 1983, while General Manager, Jan was invited to become a national faculty member for the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC). With the support of her firm and lots of vacation time, Jan traveled across the U.S., training her peers in agency management skills.
In 1993, the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research, the parent company for CIC, was able to persuade Jan to relocate to Austin and join the organization as Executive Vice President of the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives (CISR). In the course of her relationship with the Society, Jan led the organization's expansion efforts from 28 states to all 50 states and Puerto Rico. In addition to her marketing efforts, Jan continued developing and presenting CIC agency management topics, as well as CISR programs and the Dynamics of Service program, which she had the pleasure of co-authoring for the organization.
Since leaving the National Alliance in 1997, Jan has served as Executive Vice President of Operations for Texas Bankers General Agency (managing general agency and subsidiary of Texas Bankers Association) and as Property/Casualty Claims and Loss Control Operations Manager for a local third-party administrator.
As Director of Education & Production, Jan provides continuing education and agency management services to independent agencies as well as public speaking services to insurance organizations in the state. She works closely with CSRs, as she has for almost 30 years, and serves as a great resource for agency management information.
Jan lives in Austin, where she enjoys spending time with her only son, Travis, and his wife, Lauren. |
