James R. Tumbridge is a member of the Intellectual Property department. Trained as an English Barrister he has wide jurisdictional experience having practiced in England & Wales, the United States and Canada. Specialising in all matters of advocacy and intellectual property, James has appeared in the English High Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal, he has also juniored to Counsel before the English Court of Appeal and Canadian Supreme, and worked on two matters before the House of Lords.
Mr. Tumbridge also Marshalled (Assistant Judge) to: Lord Justice Aldous, Senior Appeal Justice of the Court of Appeal and Senior Intellectual Property Justice; Mr. Justice Laddie, Intellectual Property Judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court of England & Wales; and to Mark Ockleton Chairman of the Immigration Appeal Tribunal.
He was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2001 by Lincoln's Inn, ad eundem to Middle Temple 2003. He took the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law, London. He is a qualified Mediator, listed with WIPO, and a number of other ADR Providers.
Mr. Tumbridge received his LLB Hons. from Southampton University (Specialising at the International Maritime Institute under Professor Gaskell).
He has received the following scholarships: Harold Fox Scholarship, Hardwicke Scholarship to Lincoln's Inn, James Bushell Scholarship for the BVC, Lawrence Atwell Award for the BVC and Sidney Perry Award for the BVC.
James has published various articles and a book published by inter alia; EIPR, AIPPI, Canadian Intellectual Property Journal, ABA IPL Section, BioScience Law Review, the Law Society of Upper Canada Intellectual Property Law Year Review 2003, Shoosmiths Review, The Harold G.
