James Meyers Biography :

Aside from his fondness for motorcycles and the Indiana Hoosiers, there is nothing Jim is more passionate about than custom media.

Always an innovator, Jim founded Imagination in 1994. It was the culmination of more than 25 years of senior management experience in the publishing, retail and marketing industries. Jim plays a diverse role at Imagination, primarily involved in account development, new business and Chief Morale Officer. Under his leadership, Imagination has become one of the fastest growing custom publishers in the United States. He is a founding member of the Custom Publishing Council, the leading organization for custom publishers in North America, and most recently, vice chair of the American Business Media custom media committee

After spending 12 years in department store retailing, Jim came to Chicago as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Carson Pirie Scott stores. Under his direction, the retailer won the prestigious Heineman Award for the best retail advertising campaign in America. Jim was selected by Advertising Age magazine as one of the 100 "Best and Brightest" in American advertising, and his use of rock videos in retail advertising for Carson Pirie Scott was acclaimed by USA Today and other national news media.

Jim entered the publishing industry as senior vice president of the Chicago Sun-Times. His responsibilities included marketing and overseeing the development of the Sun-Times Network.

Prior to the start of Imagination, he held senior management positions at Macmillan Publishing for six years including executive vice president of official airline guides; president of standard rate and data services (SRDS); and group president of Macmillan Business Publishing. In these roles, he also was responsible for the tactical and strategic planning as well as acquisition, integration and divestiture activities of these businesses.

Jim received a bachelor's degree in marketing and advertising from the Indiana University School of Business. He also completed an advanced advertising management program at Northwestern University and the Darden Business School's Leadership Program at the University of Virginia.
