James has broad developmental expertise in technology and high-tech start-ups. He is currently a DivX advisor, and is actively engaged in guiding ventures and companies in the advancement of high technology.
James was formerly Vice Chairman of WI Harper, a U.S. based high-tech venture capital firm focused on business development in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Previous to this tenure, he spearheaded CyberLabs, the incubation arm of Pacific Century CyberWorks PCCW). Before joining PCCW, he worked in Singapore as Special Advisor to the Singapore National Science & Technology Board and as Strategic Director for Kent Ridge Digital Labs, the Singaporean national lab. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore, appointed to advise technology start-ups. Previous to his work in Singapore, James provided key oversight for the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan as its founding Director of Internet Technology. In this capacity, James initiated and managed many world class Internet pioneering R&D, application and promotion programs, including Taiwan EC Pilot, Internet World Exposition, Java Alliance and others.
Before moving to Taiwan, James worked for several high profile technology companies in the U.S., including SAS Institute, Silicon Graphics and the GO Corporation.
