James Heiser is an attorney in the firm's Special Litigation, Bankruptcy and Workout Group. His practice includes a wide variety of bankruptcy and complex litigation matters, including the representation of secured lenders, indenture trustees and various bondholder constituencies in numerous restructuring and litigation matters. Mr. Heiser has participated in various in- and out-of-court restructurings across a wide range of business sectors including manufacturing, telecommunications, securitizations, real estate, financial services, and transportation. Mr. Heiser participated in the firm's representation of the Public Debt Group in the United Air Lines bankruptcy which resulted in the restructuring of $12 billion in debt, and has also represented a major foreign financier in both the second U.S. Airways bankruptcy and the Northwest Airlines bankruptcy. Prior to joining Chapman and Cutler, Mr. Heiser clerked for a major international law firm in London, England, where he represented major multinational firms in complex cross border transactions. He has also clerked for the chief United States Trustee in New York, New York. Prior to law school, Mr. Heiser worked as a financial analyst for two Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Heiser also sits on the associate board of a major Chicago legal aid provider. |
