Jim Dorian is a veteran of the Los Angeles banking community, with more than 45 years of experience in commercial and real estate lending, and international banking.
Before joining Discovery Bank in 2006, his most recent position was as president and director of First American Bank in Los Angeles. Previously, he led the formation of American International Bank in 1977, guiding it as president and chief executive officer until 1994 as it grew to $450 million size in assets and eight offices in Los Angeles. In the early stages of his career he was with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Beverly Hills National Bank, First National City Bank and Barclays Bank.
Throughout his career Jim has gained extensive insights in analyzing companies from different industries, evaluating industry risks, financial performance, management ability, strategic planning, and marketing strategies. He is also experienced in international trade finance. Jim is fluent in four languages, and has traveled extensively to many countries.
Jim is highly active in local business and professional circles, including two terms as past president of the Armenian Professional Society. |
