Mickey milks 700 cows in partnership with his two sons and father-in-law on a fourth-generation dairy farm. They grow 800 acres of no-till corn, graze 1,500 acres and manage 2,000 acres of timber land. He is vice chairman of the DFA Southeast Area Council and a member of the DFA Finance and Budget, and Audit committees. He also is president of the American Dairy Association of Alabama and sits on the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association board of directors. Through the years, Mickey has held a number of positions with the Alabama Farmers Federation Board, including Morgan County president, State Dairy Committee chairman and Young Farmers’ Committee vice chairman. Mickey was appointed to the Governor’s Commission on the Future of Family Farming and Agriculture and Agribusiness. |
