Mr. Whalen, age 64, was elected to the board in October 2005 after serving as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Parker Drilling since 2002. Mr. Whalen has 35 years experience in corporate finance, with more than 20 years as a financial officer in the energy industry. Mr. Whalen is currently serving as the President, Finance and Administration of Targa Resources, Inc. In that capacity, he is responsible for all of the finance, accounting, IT and administrative functions of the company. Mr. Whalen also serves as director of Targa Resources, Inc. He also currently serves as a director and chairman of the audit committee of Equitable Resources, Inc., an integrated energy company. Prior to joining Parker Drilling, Mr. Whalen served as the chief commercial officer of Coral Energy, a wholesale natural gas and power marketing and trading company for natural gas and power assets. Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer of financial functions. Prior to joining Tejas, Mr. Whalen served as senior vice president of finance at Coastal Corporation, a diversified energy and petroleum products company. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in finance from St. Louis University. |
