Dr. Strickland is a Clinical Professor of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine and serves on the Board of Directors of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation. He is Past President of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Foundation for Hand Surgical Research and Education, and has served on the Executive Committee of the Academic Orthopaedic Society. In 1996, Dr. Strickland received the St. Vincent Hospitals First Distinguished Physician Award. Selected by his colleagues and peers, he was awarded for his outstanding patient care, his dedication to St. Vincent Hospital and for the contributions he has made to medicine on a regional, national and international level. He also received the Humanitarian Award and the Volunteer of the Year award from the Arthritis Foundation, Indiana Chapter in 2002. Dr. Strickland graduated from Indiana University in 1958 and in 1962 received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. In 1969, he held a fellowship in Hand Surgery at Passavant Hospital, Northwestern University. From 1966 to 1968, he served as Captain in the United States Air Force-Medical Corps and also was the Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, South Dakota. |
