Jim Peters is a member of Jones Waldo’s Real Estate department and resident in the Chicago Metropolitan office, located in suburban Naperville, Illinois. His practice focuses on commercial real estate including retail acquisition and leasing and resort development and residential development. He has experience in loan documentation, development entitlements, tax incentives, construction agreements, and municipal law. He has worked on projects throughout the West and Midwest. His clients have included national chain retailers, high-end resort developers and residential developers. His work includes purchase and leasing of Shopping Center and Power Center sites, property assemblages, resale of Outparcels and excess property, and acquisition of distribution centers sites. He has negotiated and drafted Ground Leases, Build to Suit Leases, Reverse Build To Suit Leases, Subleases, Development Agreements, Municipal Improvement Agreements, Co-Developer Agreements, Easement Agreements, Entitlements Agreements, Covenants, Water Rights Agreements, Construction Contracts, Licensing Agreements, Mortgages, Deeds of Trust and other Financing Instruments. Jim was born in Ohio and attended high school in New Jersey. He received a B.A. from Yale University, cum laude, in 1984 and a J.D. from Northwestern University, School of Law, in 1987. He moved west to Utah in 1987 to work for Jones Waldo. He spent five years in the wilderness doing residential real estate development in rural Summit County, Utah (in the shadows of Park City) and returned to Jones Waldo in 2000. |
