Current Position
James Iaco joined Mirant in 2005 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he is responsible for directing the company’s corporate and operational financial functions, including accounting, financial risk management, treasury, tax, investor relations, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and supply chain management. He serves as management’s liaison to the board’s audit committee and maintains the company’s relationship with the financial community.
Career before Mirant
1994-2000: Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Senior Vice President and President, Americas’ Division, Edison Mission Energy.
While at Edison Mission Energy, he led three major acquisitions totaling more than $7 billion, built a trading organization responsible for the company’s power marketing activities in the U.S., and served as a member of the Project Review Committee which was responsible for the allocation of all capital expenditures.
1991-1994: President and Chief Executive Officer, James V. Iaco & Associates.
The company specialized in merger and acquisition activities, restructurings, refinancings, and crisis management for a variety of clients including one of the largest, independent industrial gas and welding supply distributors in the U.S. and a major developer of time-share resort properties.
1990-1991: Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Intermark, Inc.
Intermark, Inc. is a company with interests in retail, manufacturing, distribution, and real estate. During his tenure, he reduced company debt by over $150 million and formulated new financing and restructuring proposals.
1973-1990: Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and other finance positions with Maxxam Inc.
During his tenure, he was a member of a management team that grew the company’s annual revenues from $100 million to over $2 billion.
1972-1973: Assistant Corporate Controller for Mitchum, Jones & Templeton.
1968-1972: Senior Audit Accountant for Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche).
