Long retired from Nortel Networks on December 31, 1999 after a distinguished 35-year career in the high technology industry. From 1997-1999, Long served as executive vice president of Nortel Networks and president of Enterprise Solutions in Richardson, Texas. He served as executive vice president of Nortel Networks and president of Nortel World Trade from 1994-1997. From 1992-1994, he was senior vice president and president of Nortel Asia Pacific. From 1991-1992, Long served as vice president of Quality at Nortel. During his professional life he held senior management positions at Rolm Company and IBM in both the United States and abroad.
In addition to serving on the 3Com board of directors, Long is also a member of the board of NCR Corporation and Symon Communications. He has previously served on the boards of Williams Communication Solutions, Nortel-Matra Communications, U.S.-China Business Council, U.S.-Taiwan Business Council and Johns Hopkins University China Campus (Nanjing).
Long holds a bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Management from San Jose State University. |
