James R. Gordon joined The South Financial Group in March 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Gordon is responsible for accounting, finance, mergers and acquisitions, tax, and treasury.
Mr. Gordon joins The South Financial Group from HORNE LLP where he served as the firm’s Assurance Partner, SEC and Financial Institutions Services since 2004. Prior to joining HORNE, Mr. Gordon served as Chief Accounting Officer for National Commerce (prior to its merger with SunTrust Banks), Chief Risk Officer for Union Planters (prior to its merger with Regions Financial), and Assurance Partner at BDO Seidman. Previously, Mr. Gordon was a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he began his career in public accounting and was a key member of their Global Financial Services Banking Group.
Mr. Gordon graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelors of Accountancy and received a Graduate Diploma from Paul W. Barret, Jr. School of Banking (formerly Mid South School of Banking). He is also a certified public accountant. Mr. Gordon serves on the Professional Advisory of the E.H. Patterson School of Accountancy at The University of Mississippi. |
