James P. Slattery, a senior partner in the firm’sBrooklyn Heights office, has been with Cullen and Dykman LLP since 1969. He is a graduate of St. John’s University (B.A. 1963; J.D. 1966). Mr. Slattery is the head of the Firm’s higher education and not-for-profit practice group and has practiced in the higher education field for over thirty-five (35) years. He currently serves as counsel to a number of colleges and universities in the metropolitan New York area. In addition, Mr. Slattery serves as a member of the Advisory Board of Kingsborough Community College. Mr. Slattery is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), has served on the Editorial Board of The Journal of College and University Law and currently sits on the Editorial Board of NACUANOTES, an electronic service to NACUA members that provides summary analysis of hot legal topics. In addition to his representation of colleges and universities, Mr. Slattery serves as President of the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc., is a member of the Boards of the Brooklyn Visiting Nurse Foundation, Boy Scouts of America - Brooklyn Council, Mercy Home for Children, Friends of Saint Saviour Elementary School and is Secretary of the Board of the Christopher Slattery Memorial Scholarship Foundation. He is also a Friend of SUNY Downstate Medical Center and has participated as a member of the New York State Grievance Committee for the Second and Eleventh Judicial Districts. Mr. Slattery is admitted to practice in New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts, the U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. |
