Jim represents clients in a broad range of business lawsuits in federal and state courts with an emphasis in:Antitrust and trade competition Business fraud litigation Director and officer liability Tax litigation He has represented numerous corporations in pursuing recoveries in antitrust price fixing and market allocation cases. He successfully represented more than 200 agribusinesses, as well as several national pharmacy chains, obtaining very favorable settlements in price-fixing litigation involving vitamin manufacturers.Jim has extensive experience in complex, multi-party litigation conducted in multiple jurisdictions. He has handled a number of fraudulent conveyance and director/officer/shareholder liability actions, including representation of Kaiser Steel in the recovery of assets valued in excess of $40 million. Jim also represented hundreds of banks that recovered tax refunds in excess of $50 million after trial court victories were ultimately affirmed by the Minnesota Supreme Court.Jim has been involved in the presentation of numerous significant constitutional cases before the United States and Minnesota Supreme Courts and various Courts of Appeals in the areas of federal court jurisdiction, federal court procedure, taxation, economic development financing, public school and private college financing, and federal bank regulation. Jim represented Marathon Pipeline in the landmark case in which the U.S. Supreme Court held that the U.S. bankruptcy court system violated the U.S. Constitution.He has has served as a member of Lindquist & Vennum's management committee and as chair of the firm's litigation department and antitrust practice group. |
