Jim Burnes is a partner in the education group of Bricker & Eckler. His practice involves school law, public sector labor law including MR/DD's and construction law, with an emphasis on issues involving grievance arbitration, unfair labor practice charges, ADA, Ohio's OSHA laws, disabled children, school annexations, collective bargaining, federal and state employment discrimination, litigation and public sector bidding and construction law.

Successfully served as counsel for school boards and public agencies before Independent Hearing Officers (IHO's) in special education due process hearings, the State Employment Relations Board, the Office of Civil Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Ohio Civil Rights Commission, federal and state court, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and numerous arbitrators
