As a former chief financial analyst with the Missouri Gaming Commission, Jim Oberkirsch has a background in finance and in gaming that provides an excellent perspective for the work he now does for The Innovation Group clients. As Director, Consulting Services, Jim is responsible for preparing and evaluating market assessments, feasibility studies, financial analyses and pro formas for The Innovation Group clients throughout the United States and the world.
At the Missouri Gaming Commission, Jim held the title of Chief Financial Analyst, a senior management position created to establish and oversee the finance division. Here, his responsibilities included tax collection and auditing, casino profitability and cash flow analysis, market feasibility studies, forecasting tax revenue, and the financial reporting of gaming statistics. In this position, Jim developed the appropriate financial models necessary to complete the duties of the finance division. He also coordinated the efforts to evaluate numerous casino development proposals and select the projects that most benefited the state of Missouri. Another one of Jim's innovations was to initiate onsite tax audits in order to more thoroughly examine casino tax return documents. This process resulted in additional tax assessments in excess of $300,000.
Previously, Jim had also served in financial management capacities in retail, engineering, leasing and defense sectors.
Jim is a CPA and has a Master of Business Administration from St. Louis University with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Missouri. |
