James M. Metz, MD, received his medical degree from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology and Chief of Clinical Operations at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Metz is the Editor-in-Chief of OncoLink (http://www.oncolink.org), the oldest and largest cancer information resource on the Internet. His specialty is the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies with radiation therapy as well as brachytherapy and photodynamic therapy (PDT) for a number of malignancies. His current research interests include the multidisciplinary management of gastrointestinal malignancies, use of the Internet for patient education in oncology, and the development of radioprotectors to reduce side effects in radiation therapy. Dr. Metz has been instrumental in bringing proton therapy to the University of Pennsylvania and is very interested in expanding this modality world wide. |
