James M. Kilts 58 became Vice Chairman of the board of Gillette The Procter & Gamble Company in October 2005 following the merger of the Gillette Company with P&G. He previously had served as Chairman of the Board Chief Executive Officer and President of Gillette since January 2001 February 2001 and November 2003 respectively. Prior to joining Gillette Mr. Kilts was President and Chief Executive Officer of Nabisco Group Holdings Corp. from 1999 until it was acquired in December 2000 by Philip Morris companies now Altria. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Nabisco Holdings and Nabisco Inc. from January 1998 to December 1999. Before that he was an Executive Vice President Worldwide Food for Philip Morris from 1994 to 1997 and served as President of Kraft USA from 1989 to 1994. He served as President of Kraft Limited in Canada and as Senior Vice President of Kraft International. Mr. Kilts began his business career with the General Foods Corporation in 1970. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Times Company and MetLife and the Metropolitan Insurance Company. He also serves on the International Advisory Group of Citigroup and the Board of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies. A graduate of Knox College Mr. Kilts serves on the College’s Board of Trustee and is Chairman of the Advisory Council of the University of the Chicago Graduate School of Business and is a Trustee of the University of Chicago. He was previously Chairman of the Grocery Manufacturers of America.
