James M. Kensok is vice president and chief information officer for Avista Corp. He is responsible for the leadership and strategic advancement of enterprise information technology strategies. Kensok started his career with Avista in 1996 as an internal information systems auditor. He has held positions as manager and director of information systems for Avista Utilities, chief security officer for Avista Corp. and has been the chief information officer for Avista Corp. over the past several years. He is also a member of Avista’s Operations, and Economic Development, and Strategic Councils.
Prior to joining Avista, he was the director of an information technology professional services practice, and was the manager of technology support services at a large international financial services software and computer
hardware development company.
Kensok has more than 25 years of national and international experience in developing and managing information systems, network communications, strategic sourcing, and executive leadership of advanced enterprise technology environments.
Kensok is a vice chairman of the University of Idaho’s Utility Executive Course advisory board, and an advisory board member of Eastern Washington University (EWU) College of Science, Health and Engineering and Foundation Board. He is also a member of the Western Energy Institute’s Corporate Services program development team and the Edison Electric Institutes Technology Advisory Board. A graduate of EWU, Kensok and his wife, Wendy, live in Spokane with their three children. |
