Jim Jamieson is senior vice president for The Boeing Company and chief operating officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Named to this position in September 2006, Jamieson oversees airplane operations and product development at Commercial Airplanes.
Jamieson previously served as senior vice president of Engineering, Operations & Technology for Boeing. In this position, he was responsible for defining and implementing corporate strategies for attaining and maintaining functional excellence in each of these areas. He also provided executive leadership of the Boeing Technology and Information Technology organizations as well as its Engineering, Operations and Technology functions, which include the technology planning, program management, quality assurance and supplier management functions. He also led the coordination of all four of Boeing's enterprise initiatives in addition to sponsoring the Development Process Excellence initiative.
Jamieson also previously served as senior vice president and chief technology officer for Boeing. He was responsible for defining and implementing the corporation's strategic technology vision, leading the Boeing Technology organization, as well as sponsoring the enterprise Engineering & Technology, Program Management, and Operations and Supplier Management process councils.
Prior to that assignment, Jamieson served as senior vice president--Airplane Programs for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. In that role, he was responsible for the design and production of all Boeing commercial airplanes, including the 717, 737, 747, 757, 767 and 777.
In previous assignments, Jamieson served as executive vice president of Single Aisle Airplane programs, vice president/general manager of 737/757 programs, vice president of Aircraft Systems & Interiors, director of Aircraft Interiors, chief project engineer for the Boeing 757, chief engineer of Customer Engineering for the Boeing 747/767, and deputy chief project engineer for the Boeing 747.
Jamieson is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME), the Museum of Science and Industry, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Jamieson earned a bachelor of science degree in science and humanities from MIT in 1970 and a master of science degree in chemical engineering from MIT in 1978. In 1995, he also participated in the Senior Executive Program at MIT. |
