James K. Abcouwer, 53, has served as President and CEO since January 2006 and as a Director since April 2006. He was director of gas purchasing for Tenneco Gas (now El Paso Energy). Later he served as vice president in charge of gas supply, gas operations, and rate and regulatory affairs for NiSource, Inc. He was promoted to senior vice president in charge of gas and electric commercial operations and later to CEO of NiSource's non-regulated business group, including its exploration and production investments. In 2000, Mr. Abcouwer became CEO of Columbia Natural Resources, Inc, then the third largest exploration and production company in the eastern United States. In 2004, Columbia Natural Resources was sold for $800 million. Mr. Abcouwer has over 25 years experience in the energy industry. He is a 1975 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and received a Masters in Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School in 1982.
