Signed by the Cardinals on 3/12/03, Darling reached the 100-tackle mark for the first time in his career in 2004, finishing the season with 104 tackles and he recorded his second consecutive 100-tackle season in 2005 with 106 stops. The Philadelphia Eagles second-round choice (57th overall) in the 1997 draft, Darling spent four years in Philadelphia before signing with the Jets on 3/21/01.

2004: Led the Cardinals in tackles with 104, also recording the first 100-tackle campaign of his career started at weakside linebacker in the season opener @ StL (9/12) and recorded seven tackles while forcing a Rams fumble; had an apparent 95-yard interception return for a go-ahead touchdown nullified by penalty in the 4th quarter became the regular starter at weakside linebacker vs. NE (9/19) and recorded his first interception as a Cardinal to end the first half; recorded a game high 11 total tackles recorded a team-high eight solo tackles and nine total tackles vs. NO (10/3); stopped Saints QB Aaron Brooks on the Arizona one-yard line denying a touchdown. Two-year starter and all-Pac-10 Conference middle linebacker at Washington State named second team All-America (1996) at inside linebacker by The Sporting News in 43 career games (20 starts) for the Cougars, recorded 258 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and one interception.

Full name James Jackson Darling excelled in athletics and the classroom at Kettle Falls (WA) High School basketball and track letterman and three-year prep starter in football as defensive back and running back was also class president, earning eight academic awards zoology major at Washington State raised by maternal grandmother, Vera Darling in Kettle Falls (population of approx. 1,300) he and wife Kim have one son, Dylan and a daughter, Bella in 2004, received the Steve Schoenfeld Good Guy Award from the Phoenix Chapter of the Pro Football Writers Association, an honor bestowed annually on one player for cooperation and insight in dealing with the media. |
