James J. Carpenter has been Senior Executive Vice President since January 1, 2006, having held the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer since February 1, 2005 and previous to that of Executive Vice President and Assistant Chief Lending Officer since January 1, 2003. Mr. Carpenter joined the Bank on November 30, 2000 in connection with its acquisition of Haven Bancorp., Inc., parent of CFS Bank where he served as Senior Vice President in charge of multi-family, commercial and construction lending since November, 1994 and prior as head of its Asset Management Department from December, 1991.
Before joining CFS Bank, Mr. Carpenter served as Assistant Vice President in the Commercial Loan Workout Department and as midtown Manhattan Branch Manager for American Savings Bank. He began his career in group credit and mortgage life insurance sales with the Beneficial Insurance Group and Minnesota Mutual Life.
Mr. Carpenter serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Institute of Long Island University and the Long Island Housing Partnership. In addition, he is past president of the Metropolitan Mortgage Officers Society and a member and past president of the Three Villages Kiwanis Club.
An honors graduate of the national School of Banking in Fairfield, Connecticut, Mr. Carpenter holds an MBA in accounting from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration/finance from the University of Richmond. |
