Jim Schafer is a seasoned consultant and well-qualified business appraiser. Jim joined Chapman Associates after a long and successful career having completed consulting projects with over 200 closely held middle market businesses in a variety of industries. He has worked with ownership, management and key employees in the development and implementation of plans, strategies, focus and changes of entities in the pursuit of and the attainment of increased returns and value in the ever-changing market place. Jim has performed in the management and financial activities of enterprises as a management consultant, a controller, a CPA, a manager and as a well-rounded valuator. These positions were involved in the functioning of and problem solving in industries including manufacturing, distribution, business services, retail and restaurants, and construction. His diverse experience enables him to understand the fundamentals, as well as the numbers and the various roles of a business, having performed a number of them himself. His valuation experience includes functioning as a self-employed business appraiser, completing valuation projects for distributors, retailers, contractors, estates and minority interests. Jim has served as a controller for six corporations, and as a CFO for several years, developing, implementing and maintaining financial, operational and internal controls. Then as the executive supervisor for an international management consulting company, he implemented several turnarounds and completed overhauls of major competitor’s work. Jim is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Illinois and a Certified Valuation Analyst. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Commerce and Finance from Coe College. Jim served in the U.S. Navy and was in the Air Force reserve as a Finance Officer. |
