James F. Nieberding, senior managing economist in LECG's Washington, D.C. office, specializes in antitrust, applied econometrics and economic modeling, and microeconomic analysis. His work, encompassing a wide range of industries, has included theoretical and empirical analysis of horizontal and vertical issues in private litigation and in matters before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, the European Commission, the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission, and various Federal and State courts relating to a wide variety of antitrust claims. Dr. Nieberding also has experience in intellectual property matters pertaining to liability and damages issues, as well as in the antitrust claims and counterclaims often embedded in intellectual property litigation. He has worked extensively on matters concerning the appropriateness of class-certification especially in the context of price fixing/conspiracy claims potentially affecting direct and indirect purchasers, and co-authored two expert reports before the Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration and the U.S. International Trade Commission relating to a Sunset Review of existing (now removed) antidumping orders.
Dr. Nieberding has a good deal of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and statistics, has presented papers at academic conferences, and has published articles in academic journals. His Ph.D. in economics is from The Ohio State University in 1994. |
