James F. Meara is vice president of Tax at Marathon Oil Corporation. He joined Marathon in 1980 and was appointed to his current position in January 2002.
From 2000 Mr. Meara served as controller. Three years earlier, in 1997, he was appointed Tax manager. In 1995, he was named commercial director of Sakhalin Energy in Moscow, Russia.
Mr. Meara joined Marathon as a tax analyst and moved through a series of posts in the Tax department, becoming manager of Tax Audit Systems & Planning in 1988.
Mr. Meara is a native of Fairlawn, New Jersey. In 1980, he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and a master’s in business administration from Bowling Green State University, Ohio in 1987. Mr. Meara is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. |
