Jim May became senior vice president, CHP, and president and chief executive officer of CHP's Northeast Region in June 2002. He possesses extensive experience in all aspects of healthcare, including quality improvement, financial turnaround, program development and implementation, and strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining CHP, Mr. May served as senior vice president, Operations, for Kaleida Health System, a large, regional system that serves as the primary teaching site for the State University of New York at Buffalo Medical School. He was responsible for the operation of five major hospital sites. Previously, Mr. May served as president and CEO of Instromedix Alaris Medical in Portland, Ore., a high-tech medical equipment firm that invents and manufactures devices used in the treatment of heart disease. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of the Legacy Portland Hospitals. Mr. May also has served in two chief operating officer positions, first at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, and then at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles. He has also provided operations leadership at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.
Mr. May received a bachelor's of science degree in psychology and chemistry from The Ohio State University and a master's of business administration in finance and health administration from the University of Chicago. His civic involvement includes associations with General Childcare, the Urban League of Portland, the American Heart Association Annual Walk, Needy Kids Fund, Home Ownership a Street at a Time, the American Red Cross and Juvenile Diabetes. He is founder of the Emanuel Home Ownership Program. |
