James E. Jones, Jr. serves as the Director of Business Continuity at James Lee Witt Associates (JLWA). Mr. Jones has over 25 years of public safety experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors. As a project director at JLWA, Mr. Jones provides leadership in the areas of vulnerability, security and business impact analyses; continuity of operations; emergency planning; and, business development.
As the Northern Virginia Outreach and Planning Coordinator, Mr. Jones provided strategic consulting for the National Capital Region (NCR) Citizen Emergency Preparedness Campaign. There he supervised local community coordinators in the NCR with planning and outreach efforts.
Mr. Jones has worked in a number of capacities internationally, including assisting the U.S. Virgin Islands with terrorism and natural disaster preparedness efforts; fire and police response operations and procedures; crisis communications; and, private and public agency mitigation plans. He has written several business continuity and emergency operations plans for corporations and universities.
While providing security analysis and disaster planning support to the Department of Homeland Security Mr. Jones was assigned to National Security Events Team which included assignments to the 2004 G8 Summit, the 2004 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, and the 55th Presidential Inauguration.
As the Personnel Security Case Manager for Omniplex International, Mr. Jones managed industrial security clearance investigations involving contractors and support staff within various federal agencies and the White House.
During his tenure as the Director of Security for D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board, Mr. Jones provided operational oversight for over $220M in yearly sales. His responsibilities included emergency response and disaster recovery; policy; and, regulatory compliance. He created a security assessment survey that was adopted in two jurisdictions with a combined total of over 1000 locations.
Jones was the first African-American citizen in to receive a Special Operations Commendation Award from the United States Naval Department- Naval Criminal Investigative Services, as a private citizen. He is an honor graduate of George Mason University, and a certified business continuity planner. |
