James E. Abel, CMA, CFM, is vice president-Finance and treasurer of PPL Corporation, and he serves as treasurer for all of the company’s key operating subsidiaries. In this capacity, his responsibilities include corporate financing, financial planning, pension plan administration, financial risk management, cash operations and investor services.
Abel joined PPL in 1972. He served as manager-Treasury from 1984 to 1995, manager-Corporate Audit Services from 1995 to 1996 and treasurer from 1996 to 1999. He was named vice president-Finance and treasurer in June 1999.
Born in Philadelphia, Abel received both a bachelor’s degree in accounting, graduating with honors, and a master’s degree in finance from Lehigh University. In 2006, Treasury and Risk Management Magazine named Abel as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Finance. |
