James C. Mayfield is president of Embarq Logistics for Embarq Corporation. This NYSE-listed company has approximately 18,000 employees and operates in 18 states offering voice, data, high speed internet, wireless and entertainment services to over 5 million customers.
Mayfield oversees Embarq Logistics, the company’s equipment distribution division. Embarq Logistics supplies telecom equipment, logistics, and deployment solutions to North American carriers. Mayfield served as president of Sprint North Supply before the company became known as Embarq Logistics. In 1980, Mayfield joined Sprint as a management trainee and proceeded to hold a number of positions with increasing responsibility including capital budget manager, director of Consumer Markets; director of Network Evolution Planning, and vice president of Network Operations. Prior to his current position, Mayfield served as vice president, Network Planning for Sprint’s Local Telecommunications Division. He has held other senior management positions at Sprint including vice president of Network/Packet Switching for Sprint’s Local Telecommunications Division. Mayfield holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. |
