Jim Doub represents European companies in their U.S. and foreign investments and activities. His practice includes generally the areas of international finance, corporate mergers and acquisitions, commercial and intellectual property law. For many of the U.S. subsidiaries of these clients, he serves as general counsel and is involved not only in their legal matters, but also in their general business issues and strategies. In the past, he has served as a director for several of the companies. Using teams of lawyers from all of the firm's practice groups and most of the offices, Mr. Doub coordinates the legal services for his clients and is involved in the details of many of the companies' daily finance, operations, contracting and personnel issues and problem-solving at various managerial levels. Having developed an extensive knowledge of many of the entities' businesses, he is also involved in their strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and the integration and reorganization of their various business units. Mr. Doub has been with the firm for 32 years. Over the years, he has served as chair of the firm’s Business department and co-chair of its Corporate practice group. Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Herbert F. Murray, United States District Court for the District of Maryland from 1972-1973. From time to time, he lectures on international mergers and acquisitions and writes and edits articles on international business and investment transactions.
