James Sullivan represents financial institutions, title insurance carriers and individuals in commercial and real estate litigation. Mr. Sullivan's practice also includes landlord-tenant and personal injury litigation. He has obtained favorable rulings in reported opinions issued by the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland in Rivas v. Oxon Hill Joint Venture, which addressed the application of the Fireman's Rule in premises liability cases, and in DeSua v. Yokim, which addressed the need for expert testimony in establishing the fairness, reasonableness and necessity of medical bills in personal injury cases. Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, Mr. Sullivan was a law clerk to the Honorable Irma S. Raker, Court of Appeals of Maryland and Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. He was an associate in the firm of Sullivan & Talbott from 1994-2001.
