James Olson, 62, is Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Plaza Belmont LLC.
In 1999, Olson joined the private equity fund of Plaza Belmont LLC as partner and chief financial officer. Previously, he was associated with Ernst & Young LLP for 32 years, serving multinational clients in a variety of industries, prior to being named managing partner of two offices. His career includes six years abroad in the European practice. Olson has worked extensively with publicly held companies, and managed offerings of securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate tax strategies.
Olson serves on the Board of Trustees of Entertainment Properties Trust and the Board of Directors of American Century Mutual Funds. Olson is actively involved in the civic and charitable communities of Kansas City. He currently serves on the board of trustees of Rockhurst University, and is chairman of the board of trustees of Rockhurst High School. Other civic activities have included The Civic Council of Kansas City, The Kansas City Symphony and The Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired. He has also served as treasurer for several state and local legislative/improvement initiatives.
The former president of the Missouri State Board of Accountancy and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Olson received his graduate and undergraduate degrees from St. Louis University
