Jake Boyd is Director of Engineering for SpeedInfo. He is responsible for the technical development of the company’s Doppler-radar based traffic speed monitoring equipment. Jake manages SpeedInfo’s team of engineers, consultants and suppliers. SpeedInfo has developed a highly-accurate and cost effective approach for measuring traffic flow, based on attaching a wireless, solar-powered radar to light or signage poles along roadways. SpeedInfo customers include State Departments of Transportation, mass media organizations (such as news organizations that report traffic), traffic aggregators and mobile applications developers. Jake has served in a wide range of engineering development positions. He holds a patent for automatic line defect detection technology and is listed on a patent for mixed analog digital transmission of compressed audio and video. Before joining SpeedInfo, Jake served as Director of Communications Products for Tripath Technology where he led the development of the company’s first IC product for the communications market from 2000 to 2003. Prior to that, from 1996-2000, Jake served as Director of Engineering of Commercial Data Services with CellNet Data Systems. While in this position, he led a new business unit in developing new wireless endpoint products and web-based data center platform for delivery, and endpoint management. Before this role, he served as Director of Engineering of Licensed Technology where he led the corporate initiative to develop a strategy and program for licensing CellNet’s wireless communication technology to third-party manufacturers such as GE, Siemens, Schlumberger and ABB. Earlier on in his career, Jake served in various engineering roles for start-up companies specializing in health and personal safety electronic equipment. Jake holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. |
