Dr. Jacob Wasserman is a Registered Patent Agent who serves as a Technical Specialist in Foley Hoag's intellectual property practice. He prepares and prosecutes U.S. and international patent applications in areas such areas as organic chemistry (including synthetic organic chemistry), pharmaceuticals, molecular diversity, materials science, biochemistry and molecular biology.
In addition to holding a doctorate in organic chemistry, Jacob has extensive research experience in the life sciences and related chemical applications. He worked as an intern scientist Medicinal Chemistry Department of one of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers, and served as a graduate researcher in organic chemistry with Professor Michael E. Jung at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research work focused on total synthesis of cytotoxic chloronated natural products, and synthesis of substrates and inhibitors for yeast methyltransferases. Jacob also held the position of staff research assistant in supermolecular chemistry, with Professor J. Fraser Stoddart at the University of California, Los Angeles. As an undergraduate, Jacob conducted research in organic chemistry and immunology/molecular biology.
