Jacob’s experience with construction began in 1998 as an intern with a local civil engineering firm while attending the University of Minnesota. He graduated from the U of M with his bachelors degree in civil engineering in the spring of 2000 and immediately went to work for a consulting firm in a large metropolitan suburb. During this period he managed municipal construction projects for the municipality. In 2001 he became the Assistant city engineer where he learned how to budget, design, negotiate, present and obtain approvals for various municipal, residential and commercial projects. Shortly after Jacob joined the Laurent Development Company LLC team in 2004, he became registered as a professional engineer and also received a masters degree in infrastructure systems engineering. Now as a member of the Laurent Development team he is responsible for all construction and consultant management. He is also actively involved with helping the team achieve various project approvals.
Jacobs’s involvement in college athletics strengthened his teamwork skills and helped him develop proficient time-management skills. His current involvement with the City Engineers Association of Minnesota and Sensible Land Use Coalition provides him with the opportunity for continuing education. |
