Born in Malden, raised in Everett, and a graduate of Tufts University in Medford, Jack is a pure product of the Greater Boston area. Jack’s family has many ties to local government (both his father and uncle were elected Mayor of Everett during his childhood), but Jack’s interests lay elsewhere, particularly in the technical world of engineering.
Jack’s career path began 1,800 miles from home, where he spent 1 ½ years on-site supporting the construction effort on one of Texas’ largest power plants. From there, he returned to Boston to join the Electrical Engineering group at Charles T. Main. Jack was heavily involved in the design efforts for large industrial and combined cycle co-generation plant projects, supporting clients such as IBM, Domino Sugar and Campbell’s Soup. Jack’s experience broadened greatly when he joined Carlson Associates in 1997. Carlson at the time was known as an industry leader in "Mission Critical" facility design, and during his time there he participated in the design of many critical facilities, for such marquee clients as Fidelity Investments, PNC Bank, and GTE. Jack joined idGroup after leaving Vanderweil Engineers, where he was the lead engineer on data center upgrade projects for financial institutions and technology companies, electrical infrastructure upgrades at pharmaceutical research facilities, and tenant improvement projects working with architects and developers.
Jack is not only a Principal at idGroup, but he is the lead Electrical Engineer, actively participating on industrial, commercial, institutional, biotech, and mission critical projects for a lengthy list of high profile clients.
