Jack Loftus is Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for The Nielsen Company, the global information and media company with leading positions and recognized brands in marketing and media information, business publications and trade shows. Jack is based in New York and reports to David Calhoun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Jack is responsible for all communications functions across The Nielsen Company, inclusive of external and internal communications, corporate, Internet, meetings and conferences, press, government affairs and community outreach.
Prior to this role, Jack served as Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for Nielsen Media Research, from 1998-2006, focusing on the news media, communications with clients, and directing marketing support for Nielsen's national and local business units. In this capacity, he also oversaw communications efforts, since 2004, across several other media information businesses, including Nielsen Media Research International and associated joint ventures, Nielsen Entertainment, SRDS, PERQ/HCI, IMS, Scarborough Research and Nielsen//NetRatings.
Jack has a strong background in journalism and business, coming to Nielsen from Channels magazine in 1990, where he was Executive Editor of the Act III publication. Previously, he was Television-Radio Editor of Variety, the international publication of show business.
Jack began his career in journalism in 1967 as a correspondent with United Press International in Atlanta and Raleigh, NC. In 1969, he joined Television Digest, a trade publication to the television industry, in Washington, DC. Later, he joined the Office of Telecommunications Policy (then part of the Executive Office of the President) as Assistant to the Director for Congressional and Media Relations. Jack joined CBS Inc. in 1975, first in Washington, with responsibilities for media and Congressional relations, and then in New York as Vice President, Corporate Information. He joined Variety in 1980, and in 1986 became Vice President, Communications for Madison Square Garden Corporation. |
