Mr. Fields, age 56, joined the Company as a Class III director in January 1997 following his retirement from the United States House of Representatives, where he served for 16 years. Mr. Fields is a member of the Company’s Compensation Committee and the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. During 1995 and 1996, Mr. Fields served as Chairman of the House Telecommunications and Finance Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction and oversight of the Federal Communications Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Fields has been Chief Executive Officer of the Twenty-First Century Group in Washington, D.C. since January 1997. Mr. Fields also serves on the Board of Directors for AIM Management Group, Inc. and the Discovery Channel Global Education Fund. Mr. Fields earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 from Baylor University, and graduated from Baylor Law School in 1977. |
