Jaana Remes is a senior fellow at the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey & Company's economics research arm, and is based in San Francisco. MGI's independent research combines McKinsey's microeconomic understanding of companies and industries with the rigor of leading economic thinking to derive perspectives on important global economic issues.
Previously, Jaana was a consultant on McKinsey corporate finance and strategy projects in the United States and Mexico, primarily working with software, semiconductor, and financial sector clients. She joined MGI as a visiting fellow in 1997-98 and collaborated on major productivity research efforts in Brazil, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. After returning to MGI as a senior fellow in 2003, she co-led a number of research projects relating to productivity and economic development, global economic integration, and foreign direct investment.
Before joining McKinsey, Jaana worked as a research fellow and consultant at several international development agencies and universities.
Jaana has a Ph.D. in applied economics from Stanford University and a master's degree in economics and philosophy from the University of Helsinki, Finland. |
