J. P. Causey Jr. is executive vice president secretary & general counsel of Chesapeake Corporation. He was appointed to his current position in December 2001 and previously served as senior vice president secretary & general counsel since 1995.
Prior to joining Chesapeake in 1984 as secretary and general counsel Mr. Causey was the Commonwealth’s Attorney for King William County and a partner in the law firm of Sutton Causey & Hudson in West Point Virginia. He was named vice president secretary & general counsel and became an officer of the corporation in 1986.
Mr. Causey is a member of the American Bar Association Virginia Bar Association Virginia State Bar Richmond Bar Association and American Corporate Counsel Association. He was chairman of the Corporate Counsel section of the Virginia Bar Association. Mr. Causey is a director of C&F Financial Corp.
Mr. Causey is active in numerous civic organizations and in The Episcopal Church on parish diocesan and national levels. He currently serves as church attorney for the Diocese of Virginia and on the Review Committee for Title IV for The Episcopal Church.
He received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Davidson College and a juris doctorate degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. Mr. Causey served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a field artillery officer and is a Vietnam veteran. |
