Lon Bouknight is executive vice president and general counsel of Edison International, a world-class generator and distributor of electric power and investor in infrastructure and energy assets. Edison International is the parent company of Southern California Edison, one of the nation's largest investor-owned electric utilities.
Prior to joining Edison in July 2005, Bouknight was a partner in the Washington D.C. office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP and former Chairman of the firm. He headed the firm's electric power practice, representing clients in the full range of regulatory, commercial, and antitrust matters affecting the electric industry. Prior to joining Steptoe & Johnson in 1994, Bouknight was a partner at Newman, Bouknight & Edgar, a Washington D.C. firm known for its energy practice.
Bouknight has been a member of the Council Group since 1979 and has chaired the Antitrust and Electricity Committees of the American Bar Association Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law. He is a member of the Board of Visitors of Duke University School of Law.
Bouknight is a member of the North Carolina and the District of Columbia bars. He received his B.A. in history from Wofford College and a J.D. from Duke University School of Law. |
